Coral Bay Resort Hotel Samui is conscious of the environment. Waste water at the Coral Bay Resort is recycled and used to water the extensive gardens and new plants in the nursery. Waste water is pre-treated through three stages of septic tanks before going through a constructed wetland, which is a natural treatment system using gravel, water hyacinths, cattails and fish. Here, nature does the rest of the work, as bacteria, the roots of the aquatic plants, algae and fish purify the water further and convert harmful nitrates to beneficial ones. This system has not only enabled the Coral Bay Resort to support its passion for gardening on an island where water is a precious commodity, but has helped to contribute, even in a small way, to Koh Samui's preservation.
